ABOUT THE BOOK

THE COLOR OF TRAUMA

The Color of Trauma: How Chantelle Found Hope is a moving children’s story designed to open the door to conversations about difficult experiences. Through the eyes of Chantelle, a young girl grappling with the weight of trauma, readers are gently guided to understand, express, and heal their emotions.

Colors become the language of feelings, with fiery reds representing anger, stormy blues evoking sadness, and soft yellows and oranges symbolizing courage and hope. With compassion and clarity, the story demonstrates to children that their emotions are valid, while also providing pathways toward resilience and healing.

Written by Dr. Linda T. Batson, a seasoned social worker and therapist with over 45 years of experience, the book combines her deep professional insight with the warmth of storytelling. It is designed to serve as a resource for parents, teachers, counselors, and caregivers who wish to support children in processing their emotions safely and therapeutically.

This is the first in a planned series of children’s books addressing different forms of trauma across age groups. Each story aims to provide comfort, validation, and a sense of hope, reminding children and families that while trauma may leave a lasting mark, it can also lead to strength, healing, and a brighter future.
