ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Dr. Linda T Batson

Dr. Linda T. Batson is a seasoned social worker, therapist, and author with more than four decades of experience serving children, families, and communities. Over the course of her 45-year career, she has worked in schools, nonprofit organizations, and clinical settings, specializing in child and family therapy, trauma treatment, and mental health support.

Her work has included roles as a school social worker, clinical therapist, dean of students, and program director. In each position, she has been recognized for her dedication to empowering families, addressing the needs of at-risk youth, and creating safe, supportive environments for children to thrive. She has also trained and supervised fellow social workers, ensuring that her knowledge and expertise continue to impact the field far beyond her direct practice.

A lifelong learner, Linda went on to complete advanced studies in family therapy and education administration, culminating in a Doctor of Social Work degree. Her doctoral research focused on integrating trauma education into the core curriculum for social work graduate programs, underscoring her commitment to reshaping the way future practitioners support vulnerable communities.

Her inspiration to write came while on vacation, when she realized that storytelling could be a powerful bridge for children and adults to discuss trauma in a gentle, therapeutic manner. This vision became the foundation for her debut children’s book, The Color of Trauma: How Chantelle Found Hope, the first in a series designed to help children navigate and make sense of difficult emotions.

Beyond her professional achievements, Linda enjoys cooking, entertaining, dancing, traveling, and attending concerts. She is actively involved in her church community, where she participates in liturgical dance and various ministries. She also cherishes time with her adult children, family, and friends.
As the oldest of four siblings and a widow of more than a decade, Linda brings her personal strength, faith, and resilience into everything she does. Through her writing, she shares the belief that while trauma may shape us, it does not define us; instead, she emphasizes that healing, courage, and hope are always within reach.
